Protassov Music! More Than a New Beginning

“Urban Angst” is the first track of Protassov’s new platform Protassov Music. However, the birth of this one-man label committed to artistic independence and the freedom of generic crossing rather marks a break than a beginning. Protassov’s past isn’t disavowed at all. It flashes up in various sonic memories which explode the continuum of progress. It might be true that beginnings are by definition pregnant with possibilities, but this project’s multiple breaks do anticipate a much broader spectrum of sonic futures. It’s a setting-in-motion. Take a deep breath, the air of anticipation…

Protassov’s minimalist, yet at times brazenly pompous sonic montage creates images which are constantly on the verge of culminating into interruptions and dissonant set-ups. It is abstractly overflowing like a brutalist sculpture, detailed like a post-industrial cathedral ceiling, immersive to the point of obsession. At times jungle sound scapes hint at other urban sound spaces. Protassov doesn’t enter. He hints at, opens a door. Enter if you can! These otherworldly, rather old school breaks emerge suddenly as in flashes blasting open the track’s continuum. At the end the radiometer’s pulse reminds unending radiation. Cautious transcoding rather than enriching explaining shape this electronic brain/dance-music.

If you are the sort of person who can find partial harmonics between the cross-bouncing hum of a sub-synth and a deep reverberant base, Protassov is your guy.

Protassov´s Stefan Fuß is a Music Producer based in Hamburg.
He began his Music career as a singer and guitarist in the late 80ies in several bands, playing Club concerts in the Ruhr Area DIY scene.
